Dr. César Garcés Carranza was included in the list “Best Doctors in North America”

Peruvian psychotherapist Dr. César Manuel Garcés, Carranza, PhD -who works at the Queens County Neuropsychiatry Institute, New York- has been included in the Top Doctors of North America list in the edition of 2018-19 of the prestigious The Who’s Who Directories.

This outstanding Peruvian professional worked at the Outpatient Mental Health Clinic of the Puerto Rico Family Institute from 1985 to 1990. He then retired from the Bronx Lebanon Hospital from 1997 to 2013.

Likewise, Dr. César Garcés has also been working at the Queens Neuropsychiatric Institute since 1997 (New York) and also at The Community Counseling Services since 2012 (Center Moriches, New York).

In 2007 he received the award for “Best Social Worker of the Department of Medicine of the Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center”.

In April, 2017 was awarded by the International Organization of Social Workers (OITS) with the Award for Excellence in Social Work.

Since 2010, Dr. Garces has represented the United States as a presenter at different social work conferences in Peru, Chile, Ecuador, Mexico and Colombia.

Dr. César Garcés is a member of the International Association of Social Work Schools (IASSW); the International Association of Social Workers (IASW); the National Association of Puerto Rican and Hispanic Social Workers (NAPHSW); and the Cambridge Who is Who 2007-2008. He has a degree from South Western College, 1979; MSW from Fordhan University, 1985; and a DSW from Yeshiva University-WWSSW, 2002.

PUBLICATIONS

In March 2018 Dr. Garcés published the book “The intervention of the social worker in the hospital center. Challenges for the profession. ” This book, available in English and Spanish versions, addresses the role of the social worker in the hospital, including – but not limited to – emergency rooms (adults / children), intensive care unit, general medicine unit and plan discharge from the hospital, as well as the relationship between the social worker and patients and family members.

On April. the expert participated as an exhibitor in April at the 6th Social Work Summit in Sustainable Development Management 2019. He pointed out that in a country with Peru, it is important to promote a long-term plan. “Psychiatric social workers provide mental health services to individuals and families who have emotional disorders, through psychotherapy and diagnosis,” he said.
